Innofeminism in motion

Centering African women at the heart of innovation.

The system

Innovation as it stands — a fixed structure most women were never invited to build.

Innofeminism — our praxis

Technology and innovation aren't neutral. They carry the assumptions, priorities and blind spots of the people who build them. When African women are excluded from that process, their realities are easily overlooked. InnoFemme puts women where those decisions are made, not as users but as builders.

Our story

We put African women in the room where technology and innovation are made.

Innofeminism brings Afrofeminist “motherist” principles and African women’s lived experiences into the design of technology and innovation. It asks who defines the problem, who builds and tests the solution, and who lives with the result. This brings care, service and shared responsibility into the process by anticipating harm, responding to needs women identify for themselves, and keeping those who build and deploy technology accountable.

We apply this approach through three programmes: training women to build, supporting women to change existing systems, and developing solutions around needs that are routinely overlooked.
